Anyone for a Wedding?

And so onto card number three of my project; this time to celebrate a wedding. Now I know I said I wanted to stick to the colours of the Delightful Daisy DSP but it is becoming apparent that my favourite colour is Pool Party! This time it was only teamed up with Whisper White for a very, in my opinion, elegant look.

I decided to make an easel card using Floral Phrases. They really are easy to make although it took a little bit of time to line up the Detailed Floral Thinlits so I was happy with it. This time I chose to use Pool Party as my base card, with Whisper White as an insert and also behind my die cutting.

The sentiment for the front was stamped onto card and die cut using an oval Stitched Shape Framelit. I also placed a piece of white ribbon around the front of the easel and finished off with a small bow.

I retrieved a few of the tiny die cut flowers and leaves  after releasing them from the die and added them to create a little more interest to the front. Pearls were placed in the centre of each flower.

Oops, can you see the stray pearl? It tried to escape... Luckily I spotted it and secured it back in place before the card went to it's new home. Unfortunately I forgot to take another photo.

Joy of Sets 1st Designer Challenge (Letter F) - Floral Phrases

Hello, well here it is, my first card made for The Joy Of Sets Challenge Blog. Please hop on over by clicking on the link to see the other fantastic designs. In my last post I mentioned I’d been asked to join the design team in this exciting new venture so it was with some trepidation that I set about coming up with a plan of action. I wanted a card that looked pretty and neat but wasn’t overly complicated.

The brief was set; a stamp set that had at least one word in its’ title starting with the letter F. Luckily I have a few sets, both current and retired. It really was a close call between Bella and Friends and Floral Phrases and I had ideas for both sets. In the end though I went with Floral Phrases, a set I used frequently in the past. It always looks elegant and even using it for a wedding hasn’t put me off it.

I’m fortunate to have the coordinating dies as shown in the phot above. I’d decided on an easel card so used some scrap non SU cardstock to make sure my measurements were correct and the design worked before starting. I chose Soft Sky, such a pretty blue and for a fresh look, teamed it with Whisper White.

While the card is easy to make, it was just a bit fiddly ensuring the die cut layers matched exactly

A narrow piece of ribbon added a little more interest before putting the sentiment stamped onto a stitched oval on the front.

I added a bow and 3 tiny flowers that I salvaged from the die cutting. For a little sparkle I placed a rhinestone in the centre of each flower. I have a feeling I’ll be making this card again soon but adapted slightly for an anniversary that’s coming up soon.
